How to stop Dave from taking money?

If Dave keeps taking money from your account, chances are your account is still active. To stop them from charging you, you need to close your account either through the app or by emailing support@dave.com and asking them to close it. In the app, go to Settings, select Edit Profile, and choose "Close my Dave Account." Don't forget to settle any outstanding balances first. If you prefer email, just send a message to support@dave.com with your full name, account number, and phone number, and request confirmation of the account closure.
There are two ways to cancel your Dave account:
- Via the app: Go to Settings in the Dave app, scroll down to Membership, and follow the prompts to cancel your membership. To close your entire Dave account, settle any unsettled balances, transfer any remaining funds to your external account, download your tax documents from Settings, then go to Edit Profile, choose Close my Dave Account, and confirm you want to close all your financial accounts with Dave.
- Via email: Send an email to support@dave.com requesting account closure. Include your full name, account number, and associated telephone number, and ask for confirmation of the account closure.
Please note that deleting the Dave app will not end your membership or close your account. Closing your Dave account means closing all your financial accounts with Dave.
After analyzing hundreds of reviews posted in February and March 2025, we found several users expressing frustration about difficulties stopping Dave from taking money from their accounts after they believed they had canceled or opted out of the service.
- Unexpected charges: Some users mention being charged monthly fees even after canceling their subscription or deleting the app.
- Unable to contact support: Others report issues reaching customer service, often dealing with automated responses that didn't resolve their problems.
- Unauthorized withdrawals: A few reviewers claim that Dave continued to withdraw money without consent, leading to overdraft fees or closed bank accounts.
